SUBWAY TRAIN is the most convenient, economical, and fastest way to go around BEIJING. It is just like a LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT (LRT) or METRO RAIL TRANSIT (MRT) in METRO MANILA (PHILIPPINES). The only major difference is that SUBWAY is using underground way. But aside from that, there are things that MRT or LRT management that can be learned from the SUBWAY SYSTEM. This blog is intended to provide awakening or realization on simple things that can be improved for a reliable, convenient, and effective TRANSPORT SYSTEM!!!
Here are the 10 BEST THINGS about the SUBWAY SYSTEM in BEIJING. But I am not saying that other subways are not good, because BEIJING SUBWAY is the only one that I TRIED yet.
1. The SUBWAY lines in BEIJING or any other part of CHINA are INTERCONNECTED. Meaning, when transferring from one subway line to another subway line, you don't need to go out and enter again another station. You have just have to transfer to another train without lining up again to buy for new ticket or to swipe your card again. The LINK among the 15 subway lines are proofs that comprehensive PLANNING is existing in the transportation system in BEIJING.

2. There is a SUBWAY CARD that you can avail at any subway stations. Using this card is also easy, just swipe it at the portal provided at the entrance gate of any subway station. It is amazingly fast, easy, and convenient way to travel. This card can also be used in any bus in BEIJING. Another PROOF of excellent planning and proper coordination!!!

3. The SUBWAY stations are CLEARLY and VISIBLY LABELED that you can identify them from a distance.
4. There is an X-RAY machine at the entrance of the subway train, just like in the AIRPORT, making the subway safe. Bags are required to pass the x-ray machine while for passengers, the guards have electronic gadget for body inspection.
5. All the ESCALATORS are functioning well. Escalators should be "moving stairs" not stationary. There is nothing with the signage "OUT OF ORDER" or "UNDERGOING REPAIR".
6. Signages inside the SUBWAY STATIONS are visible and readable.
7. The SUBWAY stations are amazingly clean.
8. There is SUBWAY MAP in every station with directions written in ENGLISH and CHINESE. As long as you know how to read, you will not get lost.
Even at the entrance door of the train, there is another locator map. But the most wonderful thing is the locator map inside the train, it is indicating your actual LOCATION and the next station with colorful lights. A completely reliable transportation system!!!

9. There is a glass wall (IN MOST OF THE LINES) in between the platform and the railway that there is danger that a passenger might fall.
10. There are vending machines inside the SUBWAY STATION where you can avail of bottled or canned drinks.
