How Big is the Asia's Largest Aviation Museum?

Another first time for me. This time to see and visit a MUSEUM under a hill.

It is enlightening to realize that there are still many people and organization who BUILD something remarkable without DESTROYING the environment.

China Aviation Museum is located about 40 miles north of Beijing and situated in the foot of Xiao Tang Hill (XiaoTangShan) in Chang Ping County.

It is considered as the Asia’s largest museum displaying aircraft relics. It covers an area of more than 1,000 acres.

The MUSEUM opened to the public on November 11, 1989 during the celebration of the 40th Founding Anniversary of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

On April, 1991, Air Force officials ratified its name as the "Air Force Aviation Museum".

In the foreign exchanges, it is called as the China Aviation Museum.

At present, the aviation museum has more than 200 aircraft display with more than 100 types.

There are also more than 700 types of weapons and equipment, such as surface to air missiles, anti-aircraft artillery, air defense radar, aerial bombs, aerial camera, etc. It is a haven of the world's great aviation treasures ranging from precious to modern aircraft and equipment, such as the 99 Advanced Trainer Aircraft, Boston, IL-10, Yak -17 and F -12 etc.

There are also available original research materials about aviation inside the museum.

It is an enlightening to see the UH-1H HELICOPTER inside the museum. One of the aircraft that I had the privilege to fly during my short stint as a military pilot in the Philippine Air Force.
