Baclaran Church: Home of the Love Locks in the Philippines

The NATIONAL SHRINE of MOTHER OF PERPETUAL HELP, also known as REDEMPTORIST CHURCH and colloquially as the BACLARAN CHURCH, is a prominent Catholic National Shrine along Roxas Boulevard.

Hundreds or even thousand devotees flock to BACLARAN CHURCH every Wednesday....

It is the reason why WEDNESDAY
is aptly called "BACLARAN DAY"

But unknown to many,
there is something LOVABLE and WONDERFUL
about this Church....
The front view of the church can be viewed from the main entrance gate along ROXAS BOULEVARD...
The marker near the main entrance door highlighting the visit of POPE JOHN PAUL II at the BACLARAN Church in 1981.
Inside the remarkable BACLARAN CHURCH where plenty of people flock especially during Wednesdays...
The image of JESUS CHRIST near the entrance door where people line up to pray for different noble intentions for themselves, for their loved ones...
The captivating view of the church with creative structure and amazing design worthy to be called the HOME of GOD...
But aside from being popular as center of deep devotion to GOD during WEDNESDAYS, there is one landmark or interesting spot inside the BACLARAN CHURCH compound that continuously attracting visitors, tourists and most especially those who are deeply IN LOVE with each other.
If you are not familiar with the place, you will regard this pond as an ordinary wishing well or wishing pond for people who are asking for healing, for good life or for safe journey. BUT WAIT, there is more INTERESTING SIGHT to behold...coins are not the only things being thrown at the pond...
LOVE LOCKS in BACLARAN CHURCH resemble that in PARIS where names of couple are written in a pair of PADLOCKS which are locked with each other. But what makes this place different from that one in PARIS is the keys here are thrown in the pond.

LOVE LOCKS symbolize LASTING LOVE!!!

YES, may "FOREVER" sa LOVE LOCKS sa BACLARAN CHURCH

As shown at KAPUSO MO, JESICA SOHO, the origin of the LOVE LOCKS came about when the caretaker of the church started the "tradition" when he and his new found love wrote their names in a padlock and locked it at the foot of the fence then threw the key in the pond. From that gesture of great love, it started the INTERESTING ATTRACTION at the church,
the LOVE LOCKS.

I actually visited the church several times already but it was my first time to notice that interesting landmark...

On the way out, I utilized the shaded walk since it was starting to rain...a blessing...a celebration of UNENDING LOVE from GOD for ALL OF US...

Like the LOVE LOCKS, may we always lock our LOVE with GOD not only during WEDNESDAYS but all the DAYS of our LIFE...to walk in enduring PEACE and to be SAFE in all our JOURNEYS in LIFE...

Wishing EVERYONE for
a "FOREVER" BLESSED  WEDNESDAY!
