PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY

We celebrate PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY every June 12.

For this year 2017, we will be celebrating 119th YEAR of PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE.

Do we really understand the real ESSENCE of this CELEBRATION?
Are we really aware that it is beyond just a holiday? That we have the FREEDOM to go and to do anything since there is no OFFICE or CLASS during JUNE 12?

I believe that it is highly essential for every Filipino to know and understand the significance of PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY and why it is MARKED as a RED DATE on the CALENDAR.

PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY was proclaimed on June 12, 1898 between 4 to 5 in the afternoon in Cavite II el Viejo (present day KAWIT, CAVITE) at the ANCESTRAL HOME of General Aguinaldo about 30 kilometers south of Manila.

The unfurling of the NATIONAL FLAG of the PHILIPPINES was done during the proclamation while the MARCHA FILIPINA MAGADALO as the national anthem (now known as LUPANG HINIRANG) was played by the SAN FRANCISCO DE MALABON MARCHING BAND.

The flag was made in HONGKONG by MARCELA AGONCILLO, LORENZA AGONCILLO and DELFINA HERBOSA while the NATIONAL ANTHEM was composed by JULIAN FELIPE.

PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY is the comprehensive result of absolute sacrifices and unquestionable love for country of many unsung heroes and nameless faces from among our forefathers.

We should immortalize the heroism and sacrifices of our forefathers by doing good, following the laws of the land, and respecting humanity and the environment. We should define freedom by doing what is right and proper.

Our heroes gave up their lives for us to live a LIFE with FREEDOM AND DIGNITY.

We should not forget those things.

We should remember and honor them by giving our own noble contributions for the best and in service to GOD, COUNTRY and PEOPLE.
