NEGROS OCCIDENTAL is considered as the SUGARBOWL of the PHILIPPINES because the province produces more than half of the country's sugar output. The province occupies the northwestern half of the NEGROS ISLAND REGION.
The REGION was originally known as "BUGLAS", but when the Spaniards came in 1565, they called the place "NEGROS" because of the dark-skinned natives.

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL has the most number of cities in the country with 13:
1. BACOLOD
2. BAGO
3. CADIZ
4. ESCALANTE
5. HIMAMAYLAN
6. KABANKALAN
7. LA CARLOTA
8. SAGAY
9. SAN CARLOS
10. SILAY
11. SIPALAY
12. TALISAY
13. VICTORIAS
This is one of the justifications why NEGROS OCCIDENTAL is the second most populous province in the PHILIPPINES with 2.86 million people, next to CEBU with 3.84 million people. CEBU has 9 cities: BOGO, CARCAR, CEBU, DANAO, LAPU-LAPU, MANDAUE, NAGA, TALISAY and TOLEDO.
Unfortunately I was able to visit BACOLOD CITY only out of the 13. I just do hope that I can visit all the other 12 or even half of them. But for CEBU, I was able to visit 5 cities: LAPU-LAPU, MANDAUE, TALISAY, CEBU and DANAO.
How about you? What cities have you visited out of the 13 cities in NEGROS OCCIDENTAL?
