UNDERSTANDING PROMOTION SYSTEM

There are many requisites of being PROMOTED whether in RANK or POSITION, but the greatest indispensable REQUIREMENT is SR...

SR means SERVICE REPUTATION...

but looking into other criteria for PROMOTION, SR is also very much applicable such as:

Seniority in Rank
Schooling Ranking
Summary of Report (OAR)
Senior Rating (for pilots)
Sense of Responsibility
Suitability and Reliability
Social Relationship
Stability and Rationality
Stamina and Resiliency
Standard of Responsiveness

As shown below is my simple representation of various career path in terms of promotional potentials for employees or personnel in the organization...

There are people with IDEAL career pattern or systematic promotional pattern, represented by the RED LINE. Everything falls in PERFECT harmony. They satisfied almost all the requisites and criteria the promotion system. They are consistent in performing well since the start of his or her career.

There are also people with bad start in their career but starting to make the effort to make things right, represented by the WHITE LINE. It will take a longer time and more effort to reach the top of the organization. However, if there is a consistent improvement in the performance although it is a more challenging path, there is still time to recover to reach the top.

There are also PEOPLE with short term career or low promotional potential, represented by the YELLOW LINE. Somewhere along his/her way up in the organization, he will be left behind or not anymore suitable for higher rank and/or position.

There are also people with undetermined direction in the organization, with unpredictable performances along the way, represented by the BLACK LINE. The promotion of this individual is greatly uncertain. It is a game of luck and timing.

Just my simple analysis. How about you? How do you understand PROMOTION?
