QUEZON PROVINCE: HOME OF NIYOGYUGAN FESTIVAL (2013)

NIYOGYUGAN comes from the words NIYOG (COCONUT) and YUGYUG (TO MOVE TO A BEAT)...

The main objective of the FESTIVAL is to promote AGRICULTURE and TOURISM in QUEZON PROVINCE.

QUEZON PROVINCE is the NUMBER ONE source of COCONUT PRODUCTS in the country.

I witnessed this FESTIVAL only once...in 2013...

I was looking forward for this in 2014 but it did not happen because of the devastation brought about by the numerous calamities that hit majority of the places in QUEZON PROVINCE...

But this year, I will be looking forward for the amazing supreme display of CREATIVITY and TALENT of QUEZONIANS...

QUEZON PROVINCE has 2 cities (LUCENA and TAYABAS) and 39 municipalities. LUCENA CITY, the capital, is about 128 kilometers south of Manila or about 3 to 4 hours land travel time.

Please enjoy the pictures of the remarkable moments of my attendance to the NIYOGYUGAN FESTIVAL in 2013...

Every municipality of QUEZON PROVINCE participates in this annual event at PEREZ PARK in front of the QUEZON PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, LUCENA CITY displaying creativity using coconuts products and other harvests that can be found in QUEZON PROVINCE...

PAGBILAO is one of the municipalities in QUEZON PROVINCE. It is located after LUCENA CITY going to the direction of BICOL REGION.

SAN ANDRES is another town of QUEZON PROVINCE.

ATIMONAN is where the QUEZON zigzag road is located. The town is situated at the immediate south of  PAGBILAO.

SARIAYA is the town before LUCENA CITY when you are traveling from MANILA.

Together with the GOVERNOR of QUEZON PROVINCE, GOVERNOR JAYJAY SUAREZ

INFANTA is another town of QUEZON PROVINCE located near RIZAL and LAGUNA.

GUINAYANGAN is one of coastal municiplaities of QUEZON PROVINCE.

NIYOGYUGAN FESTIVAL is not just about these creative booths. There are many other activities during the weeklong FESTIVAL. There are street dancing, beauty pageant, and other colorful and exciting events.

I just do hope that I had given you a glimpse of the NIYOGYUGAN FESTIVAL.

Let us promote the local tourism industry in our country to help our countrymen especially those who are in the countryside.
